Not at all. I like work that is done well but I will fave when I believe the effort that went into the work deserves recognition.

There are people on DA who are just venturing in to the idea of creating and encouragement will very often make them blossom in a big way if the talent is there in the first place and I have seen the effect many times.
Within a year or so, what was a possible promise has turned into full blown wow.

My opinion is, the box is all there is. While we are stuck in here, we have to learn how to rearrange it as best as we can.

In our day originality is overrated, people do crazy and ugly stuff just to look different (and, in that, they act like everybody). It is still very important for me, but I also look at the technique and general feeling that goes into a piece.

While I prefer originality, I don't mind when I see the same theme or concept commonly done. But in seeing a number of artists working with the same or similar subject matter, I do want to see originality among those pieces. I want to see that the artist has put something from and of themselves in the piece, not just copying what someone else has already done.

Which brings me to the lost girl staring out over some moonlit landscape pieces. I actually just came from someone else's journal who wrote about almost this exact same thing. To me, that theme has been done one too damn many times. It's everywhere and that I am tired of. That's where originality needs to step forward!!!

 I almost want to start a list of cliches that no one should ever do again - we have enough - but I'm sure that would offend a lot of people. Still, I've been tempted.
