In a fit of boredom this weekend, I took a look through my own gallery to wander through artwork from my past. With a few exceptions, I came to the conclusion that most of the things I've made I have done for others. It doesn't always say so in the description, but a lot of my artwork has been painted and worked on with the help and input of my children. I think it is important for them to see me doing creative things, and they really enjoy getting involved. I think it encourages them to do their own creative projects. You know, they sometimes just sit, lay a head on my shoulder, and watch me paint? I really enjoy painting, but good grief, it must be boring to watch, especially my amateur efforts. I think my son thinks there is some big secret to it that I'm keeping from him, and if he watches long enough he will catch me in the act.

Anyway, as a result of this, my gallery does not do a very good job representing my personality at all. While I love doing things for my kids, I would like to shift the focus to what I love and paint the things that really interest me. It's time to move on from the wishes of others into the fascinating, the strange, the bizarre, the horrific, and, of course, the beautiful from my very own mind. I hope my few faithful watchers will make that unmapped journey with me.

As soon as I finish up with Spring Companions, the next project will be one planned out completely from elements that I want, hopefully in the next few weeks. I will keep my journal updated with sketches and my progress as I've done in the past.
