I think the smudge type processes for fur leave a lotto be desired. Maybe as an underpainting...but for my money ..fur is crisper and more defined in many areas ( depending on the beastie i suppose really ) ...much that we call fur is really hair.

i can see you put a lot of time into it and it does look good...i personally think it just needs to be crisper..Probably a matter of developing an overlay style that accentuates and defines ( at least in part ) more detail..
i have not perfected it either yet ...lol

This project has plagued me forever, I swear it. I think I know what you are talking about regarding the smudged look. There will be more detailing once I get the background done and get all the components working together. I'm hoping that the final result will be more to your liking. If not, I will wimper a bit, maybe shed a few tears, and be glad that you can't see me feeling sorry for myself.
